Give the men in your life something to think about
If you’re experiencing troublesome menopausal symptoms, you’ll need as much support as you can get. And it’s not just your female relatives, friends or work colleagues who can help. It’s important that all the men in your life (eg your husband, partner, son) understand the changes you are going through and know the best ways to help you during this difficult time.
In the Winter 2007/8 issue of The Menopause Exchange newsletter, menopause nurse Elisabeth Hughes discusses what men should know about the menopause.
In her article, she looks at the symptoms and hormone changes of the menopause, the long-term risks and treatment options, as well as how a man can help.
“It’s important that menopausal women feel that they are not alone and that their male relatives and friends are able to give them the support they need,” says Norma Goldman, founder and director of The Menopause Exchange.
“Women should encourage all the men in their life to read this article, to give them a better understanding of the menopause and the physical and emotional responses it triggers.”
