Diabetes Week

In Scotland 200,000 people are diagnosed with diabetes and approximately 90,000 more who have the disease but are unaware of it, costing £1billion a year to the NHS in Scotland.  With obesity and bad diet being blamed for the vast majority of the cases, the time to address this health epidemic is now.

Diabetes Week takes place from 8 to 14 June to raise awareness of the diease. The theme this year is: Diabetes is serious…Help us find a cure. The charity wants people to get involved in activities throughout the week to help make people realise that diabetes is a serious condition and ultimately, help Diabetes UK find a cure. 

Set up by Diabetes UK, the charity for people with diabetes, Diabetes Week was initially a week of intensive fundraising and is now the annual focal point for the charity’s fundraising, awareness and campaigning activities.
