Get the perfect arch

When you look good, you feel good, which is probably why so many people are turning to cosmetic surgery. But it is not for all of us, either due to cost or a belief in not meddling too much with nature.

However, a little bit of grooming here and there can work wonders. Eyebrow shaping is such a wonder and can take years off you. Eyebrow expert Shavata explains how “a perfect arch is like a mini face-lift”.

Eyebrows have always been a passion for Shavata. “The entire process of creating the perfect arch fascinates me, and I am constantly thinking of new ways to make this previously daunting beauty task simpler for my clients,” she says.

Shavata and her team have now made their long awaited debut in Scotland with the opening of a new Brow Studio in Edinburgh’s Harvey Nichols.

Healthy You’s Laura Williamson went to investigate and was impressed with the results. She surrendered herself to the serenity of the studio and Shavata herself who was making a visit to the newly opened studio. Shavata used both the wax and threading techniques, delicately grooming Laura’s eyebrows into the perfect arch in minutes.

“It wasn’t painful and the skin is hardly red at all,” she commented afterwards.

At £24 a session it isn’t cheap, but for anyone wanting that perfect arch, it is probably money well spent and you can use Shavata’s range of brow grooming tools between visits.

As for the difference between waxing and threading? Waxing is over quicker and removes all fine hairs but the skin can become sore and tender, says Shavata.

“Threading can be a little more painful but it’s more accurate and tailored.”

Fashion is everything even when it comes to brows, so if you want to be in with in-crowd, 2008 will see a more natural look to eyebrows from before. Brows should still be manicured but a more natural feel is gained by shaping slightly from your natural shape.

A perfect arch takes years off and while Laura is far too young to need an instant face-lift, she was pleased with her new brows.

A mini pampering treat is always good for heart and soul and eyebrow shaping is certainly a quick and easy way of giving yourself a morale boost.
